A free exhibition and workshops, celebrating the landscapes of Walthamstow and William Morris’s idea of practical objects being aesthetic.

The ‘Beautiful and Useful’ exhibition celebrated the landscapes of Walthamstow and William Morris’s idea of practical objects being aesthetically pleasing through art and workshops. Visitors were able to see oil paintings, drawings, collages and film photography, produced by members of the Waltham Collective — creatives living and working in Walthamstow.

A public programme for visitors consisted of two workshops (collage making and basket weaving), teaching visitors how to create a basket or a collage.

The Winns Gallery is situated in William Morris’s garden, the main source of inspiration for the exhibited art pieces.

The event was funded by William Morris Big Local. It was also a part of E17 Art Trail 2024. Sponsored by Neckstamper Brewery and Borrowed Light Floral Studio.
